Valentine’s Fundraiser
Many foods originate from the rainforest.
Show the Earth you care! This Valentine’s Day, show the Earth you care with a Rainforest Bake Sale. Introduce your class to our Adopt-A-Rainforest conservation projects using Learning Site stories and curriculum. Then, let the students vote on which project they would most like to support. We even supply the recipes! Check out these recipes for delicious rainforest treats.

Not only is a bake sale a good way to support the rainforest, it’s a way of teaching students that many of the foods and spices we enjoy every day originated in the rainforest. These include bananas, pineapples, oranges, lemons, coconuts, cashews, peanuts, corn, rice, avocados, onions, tomatoes, eggplants, peppers, ginger, sugar, cinnamon, vanilla, cocoa and even kola nut (which is used to flavor cola drinks).

Love Birds
Macaws are not only the largest parrots in the world – they seem to have big hearts, too! Visit the Learning Site for a new species profile of the scarlet macaw. These beautiful, brilliant red birds are extremely social and gather in large, noisy groups. Macaws also mate for life, nesting from January through April in the holes of dead canopy trees. Mated adults lay up to two eggs per year, and preen each other and their offspring for hours, cleaning bugs from their feathers. Teach your class about these love birds with our new species profile.
